MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING-PRESIDENT
Acting President David with SAA Rtn.Yannick and Khun Khob trying on the President’s medal for size!

Fellow Rotarians,

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of being your Acting Club President for the day. I hope that I kept the show on the road but also reminded all of you what we were missing; we are all looking forward to President Yod’s return for the final 6 months of his tenure.

We had a packed Friday meeting which kept everyone entertained and after welcoming some Rotary Anns, as it was ostensibly a Ladies’ Day, PP Nitti Meyer introduced our regular guest, Sister Louise Horgan from The Good Shepherd Sisters Foundation, whose team were selling Christmas gifts before and after lunch and we enjoyed a selection of carols and festive tunes from the children at the school as we ate our lunch.

Through the generosity of the members, and the raffle winner, Rtn Sanjeev who auctioned his bottle of wine twice, (thank you to Rtn David & Rtn Jeremy), the club were able to raise 25,110 Baht for The Good Shepherd Sisters Foundation and PP Dougie also presented Sister Louise with a cheque from Service Projects on behalf of the club.

Our regular quiz master, Phil White, held a Festive Quiz where we all learnt something about druids and mistletoe berries which we might prefer not to have known. The winners of the quiz were the Acting Presidents Table with the biggest contributors to answering correct questions being Rtn Sanjeev and IPP Tim, some suggested it was a Canadian inside job.

I hope to see everyone this Friday for our last meeting of 2020 and another relaxing and stress-free lunch when President Yod is back in charge.

Have a great weekend.

David Record

VP and Acting Club President for the Day

CHRISTMAS QUIZ HITS THE MARK..!

Philip White, in his usual omnipotent way, took over the club on this day with a plethora of questions… some more questionable than others… for our 2020 Christmas Quiz.

Interesting historical anomalies such as which British monarch made the Christmas tree an institution (Queen Victoria) and who invented the Christmas lights (Thomas Edison) were paralleled with questions about the life force of mistletoe and chocolate treats for $40 (no comment!).

Even Dr. Seuss, Frosty the Snowman and Playboy bunnies made cameo appearances.

The Canadian Mafia on Acting President David’s table took home the winning score, which to many looked like a social coup d'état..!

Nonetheless, a jolly quiz with plenty of surprises and laughter! Well done. Philip.
