Today's Topic: Rotarian Rick Smith : “ M&A Opportunities in Crisis Situations “

No. 2822
15 JANUARY 2021
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Fellow Rotarians,

I hope everyone is staying safe from the resurgence of Covid-19. With the unfortunate situation we are in, we now have to migrate our meeting back to Zoom until the situation improves. Nevertheless, the previous Zoom meeting last Friday had a good turn out with 37 Rotarians and guests joining. The New Year predictions last Friday by our very own PP Mike Doyle, Rtn.David Record, and Rtn.Ragil Ratnam proved to be a great program. Whether these predictions were accurate or not remains to be seen, however they were certainly entertaining.

I was hoping that 2021 would be treating us in a more cordial way, but that hasn’t been the case so far. The situation has caused many Committee meetings to either being postponed or migrating online. The initial plan for COS scheduled for 29th January has also been jeopardized and we now have to cancel the event this year for the safety of our members and the general public. Nevertheless, we still have high hopes for our annual golf event in March.

Our meeting this Friday will be another Zoom meeting with Rtn. Rick Smith on “M&A Opportunities in Crisis Situations.” Given the current situation, we will now account Zoom meeting as actual meetings with participation counted towards attendance. Please feel free to log-in from 11:45 hrs for Zoom fellowship, with our program commencing at 12:30 hrs. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Have an enjoyable limited-winter breeze weekend...!

President Yod Tantianunanont

COINS ON SILOM POSTPONED INDEFINITELY DUE TO COVID RESURGENCE

As per their request, RCBS has formally advised the BMA and the Royal Thai Police that for the safety of the general public and our fellow Rotarians, this fund raising event has been postponed indefinitely until such time it would be safe for everyone concerned. Our compliance will no doubt be seen in a positive light which should ensure their agreement for us to hold Coins on Silom in the future.

This will be a serious blow to our fund raising efforts; however, we still have Golf so all our efforts, and that of the Golf Committee, will be focused on that event which we hope will still be allowed to proceed… and that all members will support this in the true Rotarian manner.

2021 - COVID, POLITICS & DRUGS...
BUT NO SEX OR ROCK ‘N’ ROLL!

The New Year predictions last Friday was overseen by our honourable PP Mike Doyle, with support from Rtn.David Record, and Rtn.Ragil Ratnam.

Whether their predictions make any sense or not remains to be seen, however they were certainly entertaining.

PP Mike Doyle expounded on the 100% certainty that the Thai Government will purchase the Arkensaw Razor vaccine with doses administered in a shot glass with a beer chaser; the legalization of medical marijuana with CP jumping on the bandwagon with snacks you can’t get enough of;

and that Trump Towers worldwide will be exchanged for Greenland and Make Greenland Green Again!

Rtn. Ragil insisted that as 2020 has been the best year ever, from now on everything will be downhill; Trump will not be going away; Zoom suits and Quarantourism will become ‘de rigor’; WFH will become more time consuming; and Pharma-Wars for the Covid vaccine will be won by Pfizer taking into consideration the success of their little blue pill.

Rtn. David Record confirmed that most of his 2020 predictions were on track, and that in 2021 Brexit will be a complete success and Britannia will rule the waves again, while the USA will decline and fall possibly leading to civil war; Covid will be replaced by climate change; and that while Thailand’s tourism will not return, it will reinvent itself and rebound changing its business direction.

Now let’s what happens! To listen to the predictions in full please click on the link below.
